Trying Out A New Theme

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

Pardon the new look. I’m toying with a new theme. The previous one had a few glitches and did not validate well. Please, if you notice a problem with this theme, let me know using this contact form.

Global PR Blog Week Success

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

Global PR Blog Week wrapped up last week. I think it was a success. There are some terrific articles in there and I hope you will all continue to visit and read the site until you’ve been through every one of them.

Congrats to all of the authors for their work. In particular, a special salute to Constantin Basturea. He didn’t sleep a lot that week.

Visit the blog and you might also be interested in the planning stages, which may be viewed in the NewPR/Wiki.

Global PR Blog Week 2.0 Approaches

Monday, September 12th, 2005

Global PR Blog Week is but one week away.

Anthony Parcero has created a very nice theme for the site and that will be loaded soon. The new blog is taking shape. Josh Hallett has transferred last year’s event blog to the new servers. Constantin Basturea is now populating the new blog with all of the event’s information. Go watch the site grow.

PRblogs.org is sponsoring the event by providing hosting services. So, look for our little banner in the upper-right hand corner of the site.

The Global PR Blog Week 2.0 is an online event that will engage public relations, marketing and business professionals from around the globe in a discussion about how new communications technologies are changing public relations and business communication.

The event will be held online, on this weblog, from September 19 to September 23, 2005.

During this year’s five-day forum, participants from Argentina, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States will publish 70 case studies, articles and interviews on new communications technologies.

The event is free and open to everybody — for asking questions, making comments and participating in the discussion through the event’s weblog.

Please write about it and tag your posts with “prblogweek” - or, if you want to create a category in your blog and name it “prblogweek” - that will do the trick, too.

Let us all start spreading the word.

Also, the blog from last year’s event is located here.

Aggregator of All PRBlogs :: New Blogger - Jennifer

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

We now have an aggregator that allows you to easily scan all posts made by all contributors to PRblogs.org. Check it out at PRblogs News Aggregator. I’m hosting it over at AuburnMedia because I don’t want to add to any strain/drain on James’ servers.

The site is very easy to use. All the tools are at the top of the page. They are: 24h 48h week all | expand collapse | OPML | SOURCES

The first page is all posts in the last 24 hours. Click on “48h” and “week” and “all” to get more posts. It took a little while to load for me, the first time. But, I’d like to hear your reports of how fast it loads / runs on your computer - in your browser.

All posts show, initially, as a headline. Click on the ‘black’ text and an excerpt will drop down with a special Google search suggestion section of (we hope) relevant information online. Click on the ‘red’ text to go directly to the blog itself.

A neat plus is the ability to download the OPML file and place it in your own aggregator, import into your site’s links list, and more.

I used a new aggregator tool, lilina. Very easy to install and ‘does not’ require a database. Very cool and easily adaptable. This will be one tool we’ll want to consider for clients in the future. If your client wants to track key words / phrases on trends, competitors, and more - this aggregator is one to consider.

Now, some more news - we have a new blogger. Welcome Jennifer. A senior in public relations, Jennifer is the Vice President of her university’s PRSSA chapter. Jennifer writes, “This site will chronicle my last year in college as well as my reaction pieces to current issues and trends within the industry and current events.”

I am very happy Jennifer decided to join us. Visit her blog, “That’s News To Me“. Jenn, I believe, is her preferred name. At least that’s the nickname she’s chosen for her blog. I have written to her and speculated that she is the blogger that Jeremy Pepper found and encouraged to come join us. I think Jennifer had started a Blogger/Blogspot blog and has now decided to move that over here. I won’t reveal where she is a student, etc. as I think that should be left up to her.

Welcome, Jennifer. We are very happy to have you join our community. Students, I hope you will drop by her blog and say hello, too.

UPDATE:  And, we now have a Blogdigger aggregation Group for PRblogs.org.  It is open to public view.  I’ve always liked Blogdigger.  A cool tool.
