Good News :: Blog Rich Text Functions Return

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Many thanks to Jason Bainbridge and James Farmer for their help in restoring the rich text edit buttons to our blogs.

As with any developing platform, there will be lil’ bumps along the way. This one is thankfully resolved.

You should find your blogs restored to their previous functional glory. And there is a plus to this - the upgrade provides a new “drag-n-drop” photo upload function.  And the post preview function is especially sweet.  A ‘real’ depiction of what your posts will look like.  Any time you write any post, just click the “Save and Continue Editing” button.  Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you’ll see the preview of your post.

Please report any bugs to me here. I will do my best to get them resolved ASAP. Sorry this one took a few weeks to fix.

On another note, if you are having trouble with your blog’s RSS feed, here is the default RSS feed for each blog:

http://blogname.prblogs.org/feed/ Just replace blogname with your blog’s name.

The blogs seem to not play well with XHTML validation tools. We will work on that in the coming days.

Press Release Exercise :: PRblogs.org

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

My students are experimenting with a wiki. Their focus is to create a press release for PRblogs.org using MarcomWiki. My main purpose is to expose students to wikis and their possible use in PR. Of course, any extra opportunity to practice writing is always a plus.

If you’d like to watch the fun, just follow the link - MarcomWiki.

If you are a PR practitioner, educator or student, please send me an email using this link. Tell me about yourself and provide your company or .edu email address and I’ll consider giving you an account in the wiki if you’d like to comment.

On another note, I’m still seeking resolution to the Rich Text edit button problems we’ve been experiencing. I upgraded all the blogs, but have not yet done an upload of the latest nightly build to see if that will correct the problem. I’m being slow about this as I do not want to do something that effects your blogs in an adverse way. Thank you for your patience.
